Update and Integration of a visual display system ft. 3D geometry correction and blending for real-time 3D graphics and a 5-channel 180° projection system for VW Phaeton Driving Simulator
“DIE GLAESERNE MANUFAKTUR” (Transparent Factory) is since 2001 the production site for the PHAETON model of Volkswagen. The PHAETON driving simulator was relaunched at Automobilmanufaktur Dresden GmbH in 2007 in the respective event area.
As a partner for the relaunch and the continuous development of different attractions at that time project: syntropy had been contracted to re-equip the simulator with a new display system. The display system featured a five-channel 180° cylinder projection in portrait format with a diameter of 7 m, being equipped with projectiondesign projectors, a 3D warping & blending system and an auto-calibration system. The image generators and the simulation software were migrated in co-operation with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. Since the event area has been completely redesigned the simulator is not in use anymore.
